The JShop brand of e-commerce systems has been around since 1997, starting with a free offering and leading up to today with a highly-functional, database driven system. Here's a brief history of the systems that have been available under the JShop brand.

This is where it all started! In 1997, Gareth Lancaster produced a free set of HTML pages that, using cookies, provided a simple structure for an online store produced entirely on the "client side".

Taking the initial idea further, JShop Professional consisted of a PC-based application that could be used to produce and manage "client side" stores that ran with JavaScript and HTML. The stores produced by JShop Professional offered considerably more functionality than the original JShop scripts and JShop Professional quickly became a popular choice for developers and individual store owners alike.

DoublePadlock was a hosted secure service for JShop Professional users that provided more functional order processing for JShop Professional users.

Our flagship product, JShop Server is the result of 10 years e-commerce experience and was designed and developed originally over a 2 year period before being released. Browsers were starting to make it increasingly difficult for client side, and especially cookie driven, web sites to operate and because our customers, who had seen their business grow with JShop Professional, required much more functionality in their stores, we ensured we planned a product that would provide the next level in e-commerce. Having been bolstered substantially by new features since release, JShop Server provides a feature rich, highly flexible system for an extremely competitive price.
